Former Minister kicks off SRYSA sports meet

DIMAPUR , APRIL 6 (MExN): The 22nd Sungro Range Youth Sports Association (SRYSA) meet 2011 of late Mhonbemo Jami football memorial trophy and late Nyimbemo Patton volleyball memorial trophy kicked off at New Aree village ground on April 5, with Member general council (NIEPMD), Union Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, N Thomas Ngullie as chief guest. The chief guest in his address said that it was very important to choose or elect the right leader, one who has genuine concern for his people and who would be able to lead them in the right direction. The former IPR minister also said it was equally important to seek the blessings of God before choosing a leader. Thomas said that a political leader should be capable of bringing development to his constituency and people, irrespective of whether he is in power or not. He said a leader needs to be visionary, understand the pulse and needs of his people and selflessly work for development of the people. As for himself, Thomas assured that whether he was an MLA or not did not matter as he would continue to love his area people and work for their welfare always.
He also said that if the Old Aree and New Aree villages remain united, then both the villages can progress and prosper. On the occasion, the NIEPMD general council member promised to construct a rostrum for the village ground. It may be mentioned that earlier, the former minister had personally sponsored the road widening activities of Aree village road. The chief guest was accompanied by a host of leaders from Dimapur, Wokha and surrounding areas. A total of 14 teams are taking part in the 2-day the tournament.
