Former minister Noklem C Konyak passes away

Former MLA and Minister Noklem C Konyak passed away on March 8 in Dimapur. He was 71. Born on October 2, 1948, Noklem was elected Member of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly twice from 45-Tehok Constituency in 1982 and 1989 on an Indian National Congress ticket. 


NPCC President K Therie said that Konyak always upheld the interests of the people with a kind and affable outlook. “His passing away has caused a huge vacuum which cannot be filled. The people have not only lost a tall leader but also a true friend,” a condolence message from the NPCC President stated.  All rank and file of the NPCC join me in expressing our deepest condolences to the bereaved, the statement read.  


NLA Speaker Sharingain Longkumer  on behalf of the Members of the Thirteenth Nagaland Legislative Assembly conveyed condolences to the family members and prayed for the departed to rest in peace.  “His death has caused a great loss to the Nagas in general and the Konyak community in particular and the void created by him be difficult to fill,” the message stated.
