Dimapur, January 31 (MExN): Four-time MLA and former Nagaland Education Minister Nyeiwang Konyak passed away today after a brief illness in Dimapur. He is survived by his wife, 3 sons and 1 daughter. He was reportedly undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Dimapur.
Late Nyeiwang was first elected as a member of Nagaland Legislative Assembly in 1974 from 47 Aboi Assembly Constituency in an erstwhile UDF ticket. He was re-elected from the same constituency thereafter in 1989, 2003 and 2008 in a Naga People’s Front (NPF) ticket. In 2013, he contested and lost the election from the same constituency.
According to source, his body will be taken to his hometown, Aboi on February 1.
