Dimapur, June 21 (MExN): A copy of a letter of the Naga Students’ Federation addressed to the “non-Naga business community” of Pfutsero was received here today from impeached NSF Speaker Cusayi Lohe. The “donation” letter sought “contributions” from Rs 1, 000 to a whooping “Rs.50, 000 and above per year.”
Lohe sought to explain that the NSF’s “manipulated” letter implicated him as being part of the federation’s letter for ‘donation’ from Pfutsero’s business community. Even as the NSF letter was titled “appeal for contribution” the amounts to be given was adequately listed out. The letter was appended by the then team of NSF’s top office bearers including Lohe.
The “appeal for contributions” was stated to be for the NSF’s federal assembly and addressed to the “non-Naga contractors and suppliers, business community and well-wishers from all over Naga areas except Dimapur.” The amounts listed out for different categories – Rs. 50, 000 and above per year for “Donor,” Rs 10, 000 to Rs 49, 999 per year for “Patron,” Rs. 5, 000 to Rs. 9, 999 per year for “Well-wisher” and Rs. 1, 000 to 4, 999 for the so-called “contributor” category.
Curiously, Lohe himself enclosed with his statement a letter of the former NSF president addressed to the Chakhesang Students’ Union, directing action against Lohe for extorting and mobilizing funds in Pfutsero. The letter dated April, 2009 mentioned “forgery case” against Lohe. The CSU was directed by the NSF to take punitive action against Lohe to restore the ‘good office of the NSF’.
