Imphal, January 22 (NNN): Former Assistant General Secretary of the United Naga Council (UNC), Gabriel Chinir, passed away on January 20 after a brief illness. He was 44.
A funeral service of the former UNC leader was held at Sinadam village, Chandel district where several organizations including the UNC leaders attended. Gabriel Chinir had also held the vice president post of Moyon Students’ Organisation during 2002-2003. He became the president of the student body in 2006. Gabriel Chinir had also held the president’s post of the Chandel Naga People’s Organisation (CNPO) in 2013.
One of the remarkable events that took place during his tenure as CNPO president was the signing of the ‘Naga-Kuki reconciliation’ in 2013. Gabriel Chinir had also worked to resolve critical issues challenging the society. He was also associated with several organizations.
