MOKOKCHUNG, OCTOBER 14 (MExN): The president of the Kangtsung Citizens’ Forum, I. Chuba Lemtur, has responded to news item accusing MLA Tali of arranging its meeting under pressure by saying that he was not working for anyone nor anyone would ‘dare’ to kidnap him. Stating that the forum was the highest authority, the president opined that if he worked on other’s pressure, the sanctity of the office would be destroyed and added that the executive meeting held on October 10 had decided to hold the emergency meeting of the forum as published in the paper.
The president further added that I. Nungkum, who is no more the Council Chairman cannot publish any statement in the daily paper. It was stated that Nungkum had published numerous wrong statements in the name of the Kangtsung Village Council, misleading the general public, therefore, he said that any further article against the office of the Citizens’ Forum would be dealt with stern action.
Meanwhile, another press release from the 21 Tuli A/C Congress Committee stated that the Kantsung Senso Mongdang (Citizens’ Forum) meeting on the 12th of October was not a real citizens’ meeting but a party meeting. The president of the Kangtsung Unit, I. Onen Ltr, accused MLA Tali and his supporters of kidnapping I. Chuba, the president and the general secretary, Mar Imsong and proceeding towards Kangtsung village along with IRB personnel with an NPF party flag. They are said to have later claimed this as the meeting of the Senso Mungdang. As a result of only the NPF party selecting the Tali as Senso’s candidate, the unit Congress said that the general public could not accept the decision.
Imti repeated that the real citizens’ meeting had been held on January 13, 2006 wherein S Imti was chosen as the citizens’ candidate and it added that they would stand firm with this decision.
