WOKHA, JULY 13 (MExN): The Aggrieved Villagers Forum on Foothills Road (Bhandari and Changpang Area) has reiterated its ‘unflinching support’ to the resolution adopted by the Lotha Hoho regarding the construction of the Nagaland Foothills Road.
In a meeting held on July 12 at Bhandari Town, Wokha district, the forum reviewed the status of the foothills road construction in light of recent slight alterations in the alignment. The meeting also revisited the final agreement reached between the Changpang Area Sub-Committee on Foothills Road, constituted in July 2024, in the presence of the Chief Engineer, PWD (R&B), and the Nagaland Foothills Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC).
The forum recalled that during a meeting held on August 7, 2024, in Kohima, the department had assured that the Nagaland Foothills Road would follow the alignment as per the wishes of the local people, as envisaged since 2013.
The forum welcomed the recent demarcation and pillar installation along the approved 40-foot-wide alignment from Longtsiri–Changpang ONCC–New and Old Tssori village area to Northern Sumi area, linking Longtho in Mangolemba Division via Sumito under Baghty Division, Wokha district, initiated by the NPWD (R&B). It urged the State Government to commence construction at the earliest.
Further, the forum acknowledged the support extended by the Lotha Lower Range Public Organisation (LLRPO) and the Changpang Area Committee on Foothills Road to the Lotha Hoho’s representation on the issue submitted to the Chief Engineer, PWD (R&B), on June 15, 2024.
After thorough deliberation, the Aggrieved Villagers Forum resolved to reaffirm its unwavering support to the Lotha Hoho-led resolution adopted during the joint consultative meeting held at Merapani on May 15, 2025, along with the NFHRCC and the Aggrieved Villagers Forum.
