Foundation Day of Mizoram & Arunachal Pradesh states celebrated in Kohima

Kohima, February 20 (MExN): The Foundation Day of the states of Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh was celebrated at Dr Imkongliba Ao Hall Raj Bhavan Kohima with Governor of Nagaland, La Ganesan as the special guest on February 20.

The programme celebrated under the banner of the Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat, saw participation from the Nagaland Mizo community and citizens from Arunachal Pradesh residing in Kohima, stated a press release issued by the PRO, Raj Bhavan Kohima.

Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said that this day signifies more than the birth of two of our sister states. He said that it is a celebration of the unity in diversity that is the very fabric of our nation. The Governor stated that the central idea of Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat is to recognize, respect, and revel in the rich tapestry of cultures that adorn our country, from the snow capped peaks of Arunachal to the lush green hills of Mizoram, and each is vital to the integrity of our nation. The Governor mentioned that Mizoram is renowned for its vibrant culture and melodies that resonate with the ethos of peace and tranquility. He also said that Arunachal Pradesh, the ‘Land of the Rising sun,’ and the state where the first sun rise hits India, stands majestic with its diverse heritage and is a testament to the serene beauty of nature and human spirit.

The Governor reminded them that regardless of our geographical boundaries, we are bound by the spirit of India. He reminded that ‘Nagaland is India’ and ‘India is Nagaland’, so also is Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh.

The Governor congratulated the people of Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh on this momentous day. He also informed everyone that the door of Raj Bhavan Kohima is always open to every citizen from every state and Union Territories residing in Nagaland and that they can come anytime to meet the Hon’ble Governor who is most willing to give a patient hearing.

Lalthara, Rtd IAS and former Chief Secretary of Nagaland and who is also the President of the Nagaland Mizo Welfare Association thanked the Governor for his generosity and hospitality in hosting the programme in honour of the two states. He also highlighted the history of the Mizos and their state. 

During the programme, video presentation along with short greeting messages from the Governors of Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh were screened. Cultural items were also presented during the programme. The Governor also felicitated the participants.
