Foundation of Naga movement cannot be altered, says NSCN (R)

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 14 (MExN): The NSCN (R) today stated that the foundation of the Naga National movement laid down as early as 1918 through a small but established Naga Club “can never be altered by any accords without sovereignty because the future of the Nagas cannot be totally determined by the present movement unless the original dream of Naga Sovereignty is achieved.”

A press note from the NSCN (R) said that the Naga movement is “not for anything other than sovereignty.” It asserted that the NSCN (R) “shared the same ideology and become the part of its movement, nothing new can be added and no deletion of any part of it...”

It further lamented that “...some other Naga Political Groups always try their best to condemn Naga revolution (NSCN R), saying it has no vision and future but in reality they are just human beings without dream and who cannot explain who they are in Naga Political movement whereas, the NSCN (R) will go to any extent in Naga sovereignty issue without compromising historical and political rights of the Nagas.”

It claimed that the NSCN (R) “will provide an alternative platform for the Nagas and therefore, the Naga peoples should keep hope on its leaderships who may be young but ready to take up any challenges to defend the Naga political rights.”

Regarding the Framework Agreement between the NSCN (IM) and the Government of India, the NSCN (R) said that the NSCN (IM) leaders were expected to “consult  with the leaders  of the  other  NPGs for future programmes with open hearts but they  failed to build  the  confidence  of the other   NPG leaders which has created  hue and cry against  the said framework.”

Lamenting that “even the leaders of NSCN (R) have been attacked and accused of being hand in gloves with NSCN (IM) in framework issue,” it however clarified that the NSCN (R) leaders “only appreciated when the said agreement was signed.”

It further stated that the NSCN (R) would “stand with the Naga peoples. As stated in so many occasions, it will support the Naga solution but not factional deal and its outcomes whatsoever, because the issue itself is not a factional issue and therefore, solution will have to be a Naga solution.”
