The foundation stone of the Mangkolemba New Model College was laid Minister of Higher Education & Technical Education, Temjen Imna Along Longkumer at Tzupaksa under Mangkolemba ADC Headquarters on October 23.
The Minister in his address lauded Dr Longrineken, Advisor Law & Justice, Border Affairs, Treasuries & Account for his contribution towards the initiation and establishing of the New Model college in Mangkolemba. He also appreciated the Khar village Council for donating the land (site) for the setting-up of the college campus.
Addressing the gathering, the Minister said that Mangkolemba, which covers three ranges, lags behind in the upward scale because people have not given importance to education. “The range has less technically sound educated person, if we are not technically sound in education how can our people progress.”
In this regard, the Minister said, “the new college is being set-up to bring development to the Mangkolemba area as well as benefit the Nagas as a whole.” He urged the leaders of the ranges to give importance to education so that future youths are technically educated who will lead the society.
The Minister also opined that Naga as one can only move forward only when people work towards fostering unity from a personal level.
Advisor Dr Longrineken also speaking at the programme said that it is a red letter day for the people of Mangkolemba and urged the people to take this project as their personal project. He highlighted that the developmental projects such as road connectivity and helipad will be implemented soon.
AKM President Imkongwati and Khar Village Council also spoke at the event. The new Model College is implemeneted under Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) under Phase II. The college Campus covered 29 acres of land under Khar village jurisdiction and project is estimated to be completed within 24 months.
