Kohima, September 27 (MExN): The Chakhesang, Pochury, Zeliang and Rengma Tribal Hohos along with the frontal organizations held an emergency joint meeting and deliberated on the issue relating to the government special recruitment drive on September 26 at Kohima. The Joint Tribal Hoho after thorough deliberation on the issue resolved to express gratitude to the state government for the concern shown to the ten tribes by recognizing the genuine deficiency of representation in the government services.
“The government may consider options through which the benefit may be extended to the inadequately represented tribes without affecting the interest of the other tribes while keeping the larger interest of all the Naga tribes in dispensing justice and fairness,” a release received here said today.
The Joint Tribal Hoho requested the state government to consider tribal proportion in the appointment of members of the NPSC so that equal and proportionate representation is given to the various tribes in the premier recruitment commission.
The release mentioned that some tribes have never been represented in the commission till date while some tribes have been dominating in the commission.
The Joint tribal Hoho while appreciating the state government’s step to conduct total review of the existing job reservation policy requested the state to institute an independent commission having the technical support of subject experts who can define the parameters of economic and educational backwardness as against employability.
It also appreciated the government for sanctioning several grants and packages to develop backward areas. However, it resented the fact that those funds were not distributed in an even or justified manner where some of the backward areas have been deprived while some advanced areas have been continuously enjoying these benefits.
The joint tribal Hoho also decried the manner in which the government is handling the bogus and illegally appointed teacher’s issue where some of the tribes stand to gain maximum benefit from such illegal appointment, at the expense of the future of the younger Naga generation.
Further, the Joint Tribal Hoho requested the state government to terminate all the illegally appointed teachers and recruit qualified candidate through proper recruitment process.
This was stated in a joint release issued by CPO president Sovenyi, PPF president Chulekhu, ZPO president Azu Newmai and RH president Kegwanye Lorin.
