FPAI Nagaland installs sanitary napkin making machine

Kohima, August 10 (MExN): The Family Planning Association of India (FPAI), Nagaland Branch installed its first ever sanitary napkin making machine and acquired training on manufacturing sanitary napkins. The two-day training programme was held at Muskan Youth Centre, Kohima from August 8 to 9.
A press release issued by the Programme Officer, FPA India, Nagaland Branch – Kohima stated that the trainers for the programme were Ghanshyam, trainer from S. A. Enterprise and Birise Sangtam Scout/F- Researcher NIF, Guwahati Cell- Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IITG).
“The trainees also included the staff members of FPA India, Nagaland Branch lead by Vincent Belho, General Manager along with the youth volunteers of FPAI,” the release added.
The sessions included the experiential learning of the functions and purposes of different machineries and process of preparing the sanitary napkins.
The release also stated that ever since the establishment of the Branch of Family Association of India (FPAI), Nagaland Branch in 1978 in Nagaland. The Association has been actively engaged in promoting access to sexual reproductive health information & services and family planning. FPA India’s work includes programmes and services covering maternal and child survival; male involvement; adolescents friendly health services and youth empowerment with special focus on women's health and economy, HIV/AIDS and gender equality.
“FPA India Nagaland Branch has taken another Social Enterprise with the introduction of sanitary napkin making machine through the support of National Innovation Foundation of India, Guwahati Cell. This innovative step is expected to be a tool for the enhancement of the programmes and activities in regard to Women Empowerment policies of the Association. Good health and economic prosperity,” the release added.
