Dimapur, November 2 (MExN): All the Fair Price Shops (FPS) within the jurisdiction of Dimapur Ward-21 are advised to operate or open their respective unit for at least 15 days in a month in order to facilitate the beneficiaries in collecting their due shares.
This is in accordance with the directive from the office of the Assistant Director, Food & Civil Supplies, informed a circular issued by the Ward Welfare Committee Convenor, Jonah D Achumi and Joint Secretary, Sashitemjen.
Operating the FPS Unit for just 2 or 3 days in a month has resulted in tightening up the situation where instances of beneficiaries not being able to collect their shares were reported, it said.
The release further informed that beneficiaries are reportedly not receiving the full benefits of their entitlement i.e. 5 kilos per head under the PHH category, as some FPS are withholding 1 kg.
In addition, there reports have been received reports of FPS units turning down backlog shares, it added.
In this connection, the Committee requested of those unit(s) to stop engaging in such practices and uphold the correct standard by disbursing due benefits and entertaining the backlog shares to the beneficiaries.
The circular is issued in response to the complaints received from various public sources and not from a personal stand-point or with an intention to harm and malign any FPS Unit under Ward-21 but for the general convenience of the public, it said.
Accordingly, it expressed hope that those running the FPS Units will positively act upon the issues highlighted in the circular and do fix any anomalies in everyone's best interest.
