Mon, February 17 (MExN): People in Mon availed cataract surgery free of cost for five days, benefitting those who were unable to afford the lens in cataract operations.
District Health Society, Mon organised a free cataract surgery with IntraocuIar Lens (IOL) implantation Eye camp, sponsored by National Programme for Control of Blindness and Visual Impairment (NPCB&VI) Nagaland from February 12 to 17 at District Hospital (DH), Mon.
A press release received here stated that a team of specialised eye doctors led by Dr Phyantsuthung Consultant Eye Specialist, DH Wokha and Dr Wobenthung Tsopoe Eye Specialist, Hezukhu Memorial DH Zunheboto made the camp effective by covering 56 major cases and one minor case with 299 OPD registrations.
The team also consisted of Medemnochetla staff nurse, IMDH Mokokchung; Limasenla ANM IMDH Mokokchung; Limasungzung, Ophthalmic Assistant, DH Mon; Ngapsa T Konyak, Ophthalmic Assistant, Mon.
After one month, postoperative follow-ups will be done by ophthalmic assistants of the respective health units, the release added.
