PHEK, FEBRUARY 23 (MExN): The National Programme for Control of Blindness and Visual Impairment (NPCB & VI), Nagaland, organized a free cataract surgery eye camp at the District Hospital Phek from January 24 to February 1, as part of its public health outreach initiative for Phek District.
Supervised by the State Programme Officer (NPCB & VI) from the Department of Health & Family Welfare, the camp successfully conducted 31 cataract surgeries and treated three minor cases. The medical team was led by Dr. E. Phyantsuthung, State Programme Officer (NPCB & VI), along with Dr. Imnapokim, Consultant Eye Specialist from NHAK. Supporting the effort were Neikhropeu Mero, Staff Nurse at DH Phek; Lelhu Iralu, Ophthalmic Assistant at the NPCB & VI Directorate; Megohenuo Kehie, Ophthalmic Assistant from NHAK; and Avizo Metha, Administrative Assistant, NPCB & VI.
The initiative aimed to provide accessible eye care services and reduce the burden of preventable blindness in the district.
