A free community medical camp organized by the 27th Mokokchung Town Assembly Constituency Youth Organization of the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) in collaboration with Nagaland Minerals & Mines Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative commenced on July 17 at Kichutip Ward, Mokokchung.

The three-day medical outreach, which runs from July 17 to 19, aims to provide essential diagnostic services including Bone Mineral Density (BMD) tests and Electrocardiograms (ECG) free of cost to the public. The initiative is being carried out with the assistance of medical professionals who have come from Guwahati and Dimapur, equipped with the necessary medical equipment.

The inaugural day witnessed a strong turnout, with 130 individuals availing of the services during the morning session at Arok Salang, Kichutip Ward, followed by 155 individuals at the afternoon session held at the Community Hall, Salangtem Ward. A total of 285 people availed the services on the first day.

On July 18, the camp will be held at Aongza Ki, Aongza Ward, in the morning, followed by a session at the RTO Basement in Kumlong Ward in the afternoon. The final leg of the camp will take place on July 19 at Mongsenbai Yim Ki, Mongsenbai Ward, starting at 7:00 AM.

Speaking to the media, the organizers highlighted that this was not the first time such a camp was conducted. They credited the initiative to Temjenmoa Jamir, proprietor of Nagaland Minerals & Mines and son of Nagaland Minister Metsubo Jamir, who encouraged the youth organization to undertake an activity that would benefit all sections of the constituency.

They further stated that the camp is open to everyone, not just senior citizens. Arrangements have been made to assist those who are unable to reach the venue, including providing transportation and home pick-up services. In addition to the diagnostic tests, free medication is being provided to those who require it.

The organizers underscored the importance of the Bone Mineral Density test, often neglected despite its critical relevance—especially for the elderly—as well as the ECG, which can help in early detection of heart conditions. They expressed optimism that similar medical initiatives covering additional healthcare services will be organized in the near future.

The medical camp covers five major wards under the 27th Mokokchung Town A/C: Kichutip, Salangtem, Aongza, Kumlong, and Mongsenbai.

The 27th A/C NDPP Youth Organization has extended an open invitation to the public to participate and benefit from the ongoing camp.
