
Dimapur, November 26 (DIPR): The three day free medical camp for Dimapur district got underway on November 26 at Dimapur District Hospital. On the first day, around 115 patients availed free check up, test and consultation from various departments.
Before the start of the medical camp, a brief programme was held in the chapel hall. The guest doctors and team were introduced and felicitated under the chairmanship of Medical Superintendent Dimapur.
Executive Director, Cancer Patients Aid Association (CPAA) Neeta More who is also the team leader for Dimapur district informed that CPAA is an organisation working for total management of cancer since 1969 From awareness to rehabilitation. She informed that till date the organisation has screened around 2,76,000 patients from different parts of the country. She expressed gratitude to the Founder Chairman and CEO, YK Sapru for starting CPAA with the mission ‘Total management of Cancer.’ CPAA is a vibrant organisation rising continuously to the challenges of the Big C, she maintained.
Besides cardiology and medicines, the medical camp is mainly concentrating on early detection of cancer including breast; cervical; ENT and oral cancer by Doctors from CPAA.
Dr. Neeta informed that test including Papsmear, human Papilloma virus will be done to rule out early detection of cervical cancer. She also said that PR examination for ruling out prostate cancer will be done at the ongoing health camp. The cancer screening programme in Nagaland has been sponsored and supported by Universal Comfort Products limited which is a subsidiary of Voltas Ltd. Local doctors and nurses are extending all possible help to the visiting doctors and logistics wherever required is being provided by the district Hospital.
In the evening, Governor of Nagaland PB Acharya paid a visit at the Dimapur district Hospital to oversee the ongoing free medical camp which was initiated by him. The medical camp will resume again on Monday, November 28 at 9:30 am.
