
Kohima, March 5 (MExN): 9 Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (N) organised a free medical check-up and treatment camp on March 5 at Khezakheno village under Pfutsero Sub division.
According to a defence release, a total of 250 patients comprising 135 men, 65 women and 50 children were examined at the camp.
A special screening for diabetes was done for 80 patients out of which, 30 were suspected for diabetes and given treatment accordingly. In addition, an awareness program on HIV/AIDS was also organized along with free counseling and testing.
During the camp, Dr Satyaranjan Changthong, Chief Medical Officer, 9 AR highlighted the emergence of Non Communicable Diseases and importance of lifestyle modifications particularly diet and physical activity.
Pamphlets of signs & symptoms of hypertension, risk factors associated with Non Communicable diseases, diet during diabetes etc. were distributed to educate the public and generate further awareness.
