Kohima: “Old people are the ones who are closest to God and Heaven. They think deeply for the society and our children. They are our greatest wealth,” said Niketu Iralu, Peace Activist, who spoke at the 9th Foundation day of Friends of 80 Plus held at Pfuchatsumia Khel on April 30. Around sixty octogenarian turned up at event.
The program was chaired by Neidonuo Angami with Niketu Iralu as the chief guest. The welcome address was given Hielievi Solo, Treasurer, Kohima village Council. A prayer was invoked by Pastor Neivizolie Chielie, Khedi Baptist Church. Special numbers were presented by Khriezovonuo Rutsa and Friends of 80 plus while the vote of thanks was given by Zeneizo Rutsa, Chairman P Khel.
While lauding the Friends of 80 plus for their efforts in remembering the octogenarians, Niketu Iralu added that the elders are the only people in the society who ponder and worry about the society, which he asserted, needs to be learned by youngsters today. 82 year old Thenumezhü, a former teacher at TM school, who was present at the event said that what troubled her most in the present Naga society is that people today lives their life carelessly and disobediently but she hoped people will seek God above all else and seek happiness.
