Friends of 80+ celebrates Friendship Day

Kohima, April 30 (MExN): April 30 witnessed more than 60 elders above 80 years of age come together to celebrate the eight friendship day of the friends of 80, Kohima Village at D. Khel (Seikhazou) ground. Greeting the elders on the occasion, Vilhouzalie Dzüvichü, Chairman of the Kohima Village Council acknowledged God’s grace for sustaining their lives till this day. He welcomed suggestions from them in taking the Village to new heights.

The chairman also released the annual magazine of the group titled “Khrietho Journal”. Greeting the elders on behalf of all the organizations under the banner of Kohima Village Council (KVC), Neisevituo Sorhie, Press secretary of KVC welcomed them on the eve of the celebration. Presentations were made to the elders by Dolphin Club, Kohima Village. Dr. Viketoulie Pienyü gave some quips on living a long life citing the lifestyle of the Japanese.

The function was chaired by Keduotuolie Mepfüo while Lhouvizhü Vizo invoked God’s blessings. A folk song was presented by the Kewhimiapfü Mechü Krotho while Neidonuo Dzüvichü proposed the Vote of Thanks. The function was followed by a feast hosted by the KVC, while doctors from NHAK conducted a free medical checkup for the elders. Kohima Village has about 170 elders above the age of 80, out of which there are 25 couples. Friends of 80 plus group is a group of likeminded citizens of Kohima Village formed to reach out to 80 plus elders in a spirit of friendship, respect and shared responsibility. The group has been organizing this friendship day for 80 plus citizens of Kohima village since 2006.
