
Peren, April 12 (MExN): A workshop cum awareness programme was conducted for all the fringe villages of Intanki National Park on April 7 and 12 respectively. It was organized under Integrated Development of Wildlife Habitats (IDoWH) and Project Elephant, informed a press release.
On April 7, the programme was held at Intanki National Park ‘A’ Range HQ for beneficiaries from six fringe villages of Intanki National Park ‘A’ Range – Manglumukh, Beisumpuikam, Jalukiekam, Jalukiezangdi, Lilen, and Pellhang. The workshop on April 12 was held at Ahthibung Forest Colony for nine fringe villages of Intanki National Park ‘B’ Range – New Beisumpui, Bongkolong, New Soget, Beisumpuilao, Ikiesingram, Khelma, New Nkio, Nkio ‘B’, and New Ngoulong.
The beneficiary villages received different schemes like poultry, piggery, horticulture and drinking water facility, according to the release.
Heuneilung, Field Director, Intanki National Park elaborated the important role of the fringe villages in protection of the park and the direct and indirect benefits they will receive out of the National Park. He also encouraged the villagers to cooperate with the department in the protection of the Intanki National Park.
Meanwhile, Lithrila, EAC Ahthibung emphasized the role to be played by the fringe villages towards guarding and protecting the National Park. Extending support in controlling fishing, hunting, she asserted to give full co-operation to the Protection Force in protecting the National Park. She further suggested to give more schemes as award to the villages which contribute more co-operation to the department in controlling the illegal activities.
The participants assured to extend cooperation, while expressing appreciation for organizing such programme, the release added.
