Medziphema, March 26 (MExN): The 7th edition of the Frolic Cup, a biennial event organised by Frolic Club Medziphema started on March 26.
A total of 20 teams are in the fray while the final match and closing function is scheduled to be held on April 2.
In the opening match, Patkai Christian College defeated Shaktiman FC, in a tie breaker, after the normal match ended in a 1-1 draw.
In the second match, Tribal United Dimapur scored an emphatic 5-0 win over Rising Boys FC with superior Game control.
After a close contest, Paohao Memorial FC defeated Falcon United 2-1 in the third and final match of the inaugural day.
Earlier, gracing the opening function as the Special guest, Zhaleo Rio, Advisor Sericulture, Excise and Minority Affairs encouraged the youth to come out of “Ism’ affecting the Naga society and instead work together for a prosperous Nagaland, a press release from the club informed.
Acknowledging the immense talent in sports, he also urged the youth to set their heart in any sports they take up citing the example of successful sportsperson who reached their goal after lots of failure, it said.
Rio also highlighted the plan of the present government to set up a Sport Battalion where sportsperson of different field would be provided facilities and stage to explore their talents, it added.
