Nagaland Planning & Coordination, Land Revenue and Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Neiba Kronu today inaugurated common water reservoir tank for Khezhakeno village and Leshemi village at Dzühari/Dzühako (Chahako) in Phek district.
“This common water reservoir tank of Khezhakeno village and Leshemi village was constructed in the true spirit of unity and brotherhood for posterity,” read the plaque unveiled by Minister Kronu. The two villages will now share water from this common water reservoir tank following the peaceful resolution of the decades old conflict between them.
The inauguration was done in the presence of presidents of Chakhesang Public Organisation, Chakhesang Mothers’ Association, Phek deputy commissioner and SP Phek.
Speaking on the occasion, Kronu said that he inaugurated this common water reservoir tank for peace and prosperity. He shared happiness over the coming together of Leshemi and Khezhakeno village with mutual understanding.
He asked the Chakhesang Public Organization (CPO) to spread this positive development to other villages for peaceful existence within Phek district. He also thanked everyone for their efforts in settling the decade old conflict between Leshemi and Khezhakeno.
CPO President, Vezuhü Keyho appreciated the wisdom of the two villages, minister Neiba Kronu, district administration, church leaders and past CPO officials for putting their best effort in resolving the decades-old dispute. “Every problem has its own solution but the best way is mutual understanding and love, which has been displayed by the two villages,” he said while appreciating that the two villages who have decided to share water from the common water reservoir.
SP Phek, Vesupra Kezo also expressed happiness over the latest development, adding that peaceful environment will facilitate all round development.
Phek Deputy Commissioner, Razouvolie Dozo also stressed on the need to maintain good relationship with immediate neighbours. He was optimistic that the two villages would continue to uphold the good things arrived today in the long run for peace and progress.
Further, expressing happiness that the two village leaders have agreed for peaceful co-existence, he cautioned that any unwanted element damaging the common reservoir would be seriously dealt with by the administration.
Khezhakeno Youth Organisation (KYO) President, Lhouvetsho Pfüno speaking on behalf of Khezhakeno village appealed both the villages to forgive each other for the past mistakes and “let this day be a start towards the beginning of a new era of peaceful co-existence between the two villages.” “May God grant the leaders of both the villages the wisdom to make the right decisions for a lasting, happy and bonding relationship,” he added.
Leshemi Village Council chairman, Ngupelo Lasushe also spoke at the programme. Tenyimi Public Organization (TPO) President, Timikha Koza said that it is easy to choose a friend but having a good neighbour is the best asset. Establishing a good neighbor is priceless and the most valuable thing, he said.
Earlier, the dedicatory prayer for the common reservoir tank was pronounced by Chakhesang Baptist Church Council (CBCC) executive secretary Rev. Khrotso Mero. The programme was chaired by Pfutsero Additional Deputy Commissioner Japheth Woch. Leshemi village presented folk tune while vote of thanks proposed by Pfutsero Town Welfare Committee convenor Mezelo Lomi.
