FRUSTRATION AS TEACHERS WITHOUT SALARIES FOR MONTHS: RMSA teachers, Wokha unit demand release of 5-month pending salaries, RoP

DIMAPUR, JANUARY 24 (MExN): The RMSA 2013 Batch, Wokha unit while reiterating the demand made by the apex body NRMSATA, for release of 5 months pending salary has highlighted a number of issues before the state government for remedial action at the earliest.

In the first, the RMSA teachers, in a press statement have urged the state government to expedite the process of absorbing them into the state government service as assured by the government authorities.

It pointed out that at the time of recruitment; there was no mention of their service as under RMSA or CSS and the recruitment procedure was also in line of other state services. It claimed that the teachers came to know about their nature of appointment as under CSS only at the time of issue of appointment letters.

The RMSA teachers have also demanded implementation of 7th RoP from the date it was implemented for the other state employees. It also demanded that arrear should be given from the date the 7th RoP came into effect for the other state employees.

It further pointed out that, till date, the RMSA teachers have been performing their assigned duties diligently despite the discrimination and subsequent hardship faced due to non-payment of salary. It therefore asserted that at no point have they taken any step to jeopardize the career of the students since they are the ones teaching the students of class 9 & 10, which is the most crucial stage for the students.

While urging the government to take serious note of their plight and release the 5 months pending salary at the earliest, the RMSA teachers cautioned that in the event of non-payment of their pending salaries, they would have no option but collaborate with the central body and other units to take steps that may derail the smooth functioning of the secondary schools.
