The Fun Tree Crew (FTC) has conducted 2nd Hornbill Traditional Sports Circuit Challenge 2025 on December 5 at RCEMPA, Phezhu, Jotsoma.

This event was a celebration of indigenous physical culture and showcasing traditional Naga endurance and skill.

The event featured two spirited participants Visizo Peseyie from Nagaland and Jack Hakhum from Arunachal Prades who competed closely across all six stations of the circuit.

The competition comprised six traditional themed challenges: a 1.5 km Hunter’s Run from RCEMPA to Sazolie College and back, Porter’s Carry with a 30 kg sandbag in a bamboo basket (khorü), Farmer’s Chop using a blunt axe to split firewood, Giant’s Throw involving a 5 kg stone thrown to a distance of 35 feet, Warrior’s Strike with a catapult from 30 feet and Shaman’s Fire, requiring participants to ignite a fire using twigs, paper, and a matchbox.

Both competitors completed the full circuit with identical timings, resulting in a tie-breaker round. Each participant was required to chop an additional log, and the one who completed the task in the shortest time was declared the Champion.

The winner Visizo Peseyie received the “Winner Takes All prize” of Rs.20,000 along with a certificate.

The organisers expressed appreciation to the Tourism Department and the Government of Nagaland for their support and to TAFMA for providing the RCEMPA venue, which enabled the smooth conduct of the event.

The event was graced by Keneisalie Belho, President, Nagaland Two Wheeler Taxi Association, who handed over the cash prize and certificates to the participants.

The FTC Traditional Sports Circuit Challenge continues its mission to preserve traditional practices and promote indigenous fitness culture, inspiring greater participation in the coming years.
