'Culture of bribe, corruption and extortion has come to live in our government system'
DIMAPUR, AUGUST 7 (MExN): The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) is set to begin a tour to “discuss and interact on the subject of ‘The Future’ with special concern for the youth.”
A press note from the NPCC informed that the tour will begin from August 16. The first leg will cover Kiphere, Shamatore, Tuensang and Mokockchung Districts and attend the Fresher’s Day of Lumami Nagaland University.
The NPCC lamented that a “culture of bribe, corruption and extortion has come to live in our government system. There is no economic vision either to build resources or to create job opportunities.” It said that the government has “terribly failed” in fiscal management. “Despite heavy increase of non-plan allocation by 14FC, they are unable to pay salaries in time. The deficit budget and Debt Servicing are ever rising and now it is almost beyond manageability. Their debts cannot be paid in our time, it will be required to be handed over to the young generations and siblings,” the NPCC stated.
Stating that the future of Nagaland is “our collective destiny,” the NPCC reminded that the Constitution guarantees every citizen's participation in the process of election to form democratic government. “It is shameful to admit but the truth is that bribe decides the election and not the conscious votes. We have identified that our people fear money more than God and the decaying future,” it lamented.
The NPCC said it has laid down its roadmap “indicating the future we believe.” “We want to interact with people and know their opinions/minds for a true spirited Democratic Government. People’s participation with full knowledge for the future, has become more important in this election. The direction, the vote will be giving in the coming election will be the turning point of Nagaland. It is a choice between hell or hope, doom or future,” it stated.
