G Rio Inter-District Tourney: Dimapur and Chümoukedima secure commanding wins

Dimapur, April 15 (MExN): Dimapur and Chümoukedima registered commanding victories in their respective matches at the ongoing 5th Late G Rio Memorial Men’s Under-19 Inter-District Cricket Tournament 2025 in Sovima, Chümoukedima.

In a record-breaking encounter at the Nagaland Cricket Stadium, Dimapur thrashed Tuensang by a massive margin of 284 runs, powered by a stellar bowling performance from Samir Ali, who returned with stellar figures of 6 wickets for 3 runs in 3.5 overs. 

Earlier, Dimapur posted a formidable 308 in 47.4 overs, with Anirudh Yadav leading the charge with a brilliant 102 off 86 balls. He was amply supported by Shiva Yadav with 61 runs. Shumritsa (3/57) and Phololi (3/75) were the pick of the bowlers for Tuensang. Tuensang, chasing a target of 309, was bundled out for just 24 runs in 11.5 overs—the lowest total of the tournament so far.

Dimapur’s Ali was adjudged ‘Player of the Match’ for his exceptional bowling figures of 6 wickets for just 3 runs.

Meanwhile, at the Sovima Cricket Ground, Chümoukedima defeated Zunheboto by 5 wickets in a more closely contested group stage clash.

Chümoukedima’s bowling unit, led by Bendang Wapang, restricted Zunheboto to 124 all out in 32 overs, with Wapang claiming 4 wickets for 50 runs.

Chasing 125, Chümoukedima reached the target in 33 overs, anchored by a gritty 42 off 84 balls from Keshav Thakur and a quickfire 41 off 24 balls by Aloto Sumi, sealing the win with five wickets in hand. Chümoukedima’s Wapang was declared ‘Player of the Match.’
