
No pending cases in Nagaland & Mizoram
Gauhati, July 29 (MExN): The Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court has constituted a Division Bench comprising Justice Devashis Baruch and Justice Arun Dev Choudhury to preside over the Special Bench for the monitoring the process of expeditious disposal of pending criminal cases involving sitting/former legislators (MPs and MLAs).
Issued in supersession of all earlier notifications and orders, the new arrangement will come into force with immediate effect, stated a notification issued by Gauhati High Court Registrar General on July 23.
The Gauhati High Court has jurisdiction over the States of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Mizoram.
Meanwhile, as a ‘Statement showing data related to Criminal cases of sitting/former MPs/MLAs for the month of June, 2025’ issued by the court, at the end of June, a total of 70 criminal cases were pending against Sitting/Former MPs/MLAs in Assam.
There were 8 cases in Arunachal Pradesh.
However, there were no pending cases in Nagaland and Mizoram.
