GB Union Dimapur for free and fair urban local bodies elections

Dimapur, June 23 (MExN): The GB Union Dimapur Sadar (GBUD) today informed its members to adhere to the directives from the district administration for free and fair urban local bodies (ULBs) elections on June 26.

Further, it directed the GBs to perform their duties diligently in collaboration with the district administration, law enforcement agencies, and election officials for the peaceful conduct of the voting process on polling day.

"Thwart any form of unlawful activities within the vicinity of the polling booth areas," added a press release from GBUD President W. Kholie Kapfo and Vice President H. Daniel Swu.

The union also cautioned non-residents not to interfere in other colonies/wards, bearing in mind the consequences of creating law and order problems and the possibility of ensuing confrontation between residents and outsiders.

"If any such situation arises, the GBs on duty should immediately alert the concerned authorities, Deputy Commissioner, and Police Commissioner as communicated," it said.

The GBUD also apprised all intending candidates under Dimapur Municipal Council to shun any form of violence or disturbance and adhere to the election model code of conduct for a peaceful atmosphere during the polling period.
