GB’s Association appeals to contain situation in KA

Dimapur, January 4: Langrik Area (Lengrijan, Dimapur border) GB’s Association held an emergency meeting on December 30 at Manipuri Bosti community hall and passed several resolutions. According to a press release issued by the Association’s president and its assistant secretary, the meeting condemned the present situation between two tribes in Karbi Anglong under Nilip Block and Bokajan sub-division, in which thousands of families were affected and taking shelter in relief camps.

The meeting appealed the law enforcing agencies to take control of the prevailing situation in Karbi Anglong and stop violence between the two communities in future. It also resolved that all the community living in the border areas should maintain peace and harmony in the area and be cautious of false propaganda. To avoid any unwanted incidents in the border villages, the release informed, selling of alcohol will be stopped for one month and VDP duty will be made compulsory from 10:00 pm onwards. The meeting also decided that relief materials/ cash should be contributed for relief camps.

Therefore, the press statement has requested all the community to maintain peace and harmony in the villages. Any individual or group found indulging in such incident will be dealt according to the law, it cautioned.
