GBs, DBs lose confidence in NSCN-IM

Dimapur, June 16 (MExN): In the aftermath of the recent killings in Wokha, the GBs and DBs of Nagaland said that they have lost confidence in the NSCN-IM, for the latter’s playing of a “double-standard game to sabotage the ongoing peace process.” A statement from the Joint Forum of the Nagaland GB Federation and Nagaland Dubashi Association stated that the ‘double-standard game’ is a direct threat and challenge to the NGBF/NFBA.

Condemning the recent fratricidal killings in Wokha, the forum explained the reasons for their losing confidence in the NSCN-IM. The Joint Forum held a first meeting with the NSCN-IM on November 25, 2006 in Dimapur with the focal theme to stop fratricidal killings and bloodshed amongst the Naga “national workers.” The NSCN-IM kilonsers had responded to the call “in a positive note.” “We were encouraged with their (response) and (advised) to work boldly without (fear) and to bring peace amongst the Naga brethren” the statement pointed out. The chairman of the NSCN-IM Isak Chishi Swu had also declared on January 13, 2007 a ‘peace proclamation’ as well as an apology on January 29.

However, the forum pointed out the recent killing of NSCN-K cadres in Wokha and explained: (verbatim) “The solemn declarations made by Shri Isak Chishi Swu, therefore have displayed a double-standard game to sabotage the ongoing peace process in Nagaland, especially towards joint forum’s mission initiative for peace process in Nagaland. It has become direct threats and challenges to NGBF and NDBA Joint Forum Mission with gun culture, killing NSCN-K at Wokha district recently after the joint forum passed resolutions to make peace amongst the Naga national workers.”
