Dimapur, July 15 (MExN): A GBs’ organization in Medziphema sub-division has expressed inability to pay “tax” to the NSCN (IM) for growing and selling pineapples in the area. The Medziphema Sub-Division GBs Union issued to the Media a copy of a letter addressed to the “under secretary” of what the GBs said is the NSCN’s (IM) “ministry of forest & environment.” “In reference to the subject cited above, which is quoted from your verbal remark to levy tax for growing and selling pineapple, we are inclined to inform you that we are mere farmers growing pineapples for a seasonal income.
And whereas, contrary to your conclusion that we export pineapple, we once again affirm that we are never in such export business except sell them to roadside vendors or nearby markets,” the GBs union stated in the letter issued by K. Izheho Zhimomi, president of the union. The GBs union made a request to the concern authority to reconsider their basic grievances and exempt them from such ‘tax’
