
Phek, July 19 (DIPR): A two-day training programme on “Gender Sensitization” began today the July 19 at Town Hall, Phek, conducted by the State Institute of Rural Development. Project Director DRDA Phek, Neposo Theluo, NCS gave an inaugural addressed where he stated that gender equality is a primary goal in all areas of social and economic changes to improve the quality of life.
He opined that equal distribution of leadership, status and property etc should be determined for women so that it brings changes in their attitudes, values, aspiration ways of feeling, standard of behaviour and action. He said that women should take effective participation in all walks of life because they are key agents in the entire field and called upon them to take active participation and move forward for the upliftment of the society, as the developing countries has shown the active participation of women.
Resource Person, Dr. Kedise Pusho, Principal ETC in his introductory speech said, the programme is intended to look at gender inequality between men and women and to create awareness for effective development among gender at various levels.
The training programme will cover topics like ‘Concept of Gender’, ‘Gender Budget Initiatives’, Gender Equality’ and ‘Constitutional provisions gender budget in India and peoples participation in development process’. DRDA Programme Officer, Azenuo chaired the inaugural function while Phek BDO Kuhuchiyi delivered the vote of thanks. Altogether 150 attended the training programme including the Village functionaries
