General Administration Rest House in Pfutsero inaugurated

Nagaland CAWD & Taxes advisor Kudecho Khamo inaugurated GA (General Administration) Rest House at Pfutsero under Phek district on November 19.

Speaking on the occasion, Khamo expressed happiness over the completion of this GA Rest House, which, he said, would facilitate the much needed accommodation facility in Pfutsero ADC Headquarters.

He thanked former minister Neiba Kronu for initiating this GA Rest House during 2011. He called upon the public to take care of the government property and get maximum benefit from it.

Khamo expressed gratitude to the landowners who contributed their land for the construction of offices and other developmental projects. However, he raised concerns over instances of landowners reclaiming previously donated or compensate land, describing such actions as both morally and legally inappropriate.

He stressed that, traditionally, reclaiming parted land is considered a curse and advised the community to avoid such practices.

Khamo informed that the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has been giving due importance towards good road network and other infrastructure developments in the state. He asserted that the government has also taken up various step to boost tourism industry in the state, including enhancing agricultural activities, promotion of sports. The state government has also launched Chief Minister’s Micro Finance Initiative to support entrepreneurs and business activities in the state, he said. The government has been striving to facilitate early resolution of Indo-Naga political issue, he said.

He called upon the people to strengthen community spirit and build a good society.

Khamo also challenged the people to be broadminded and wiser in their approach to face the competitive world. Stating that the world is changing at a rapid pace, he said “We have many challenges and opportunities.” In this, he called upon the people not to sit idle but to change their mindset and face various challenges ahead.

MLA Dr Neisatuo Mero also spoke on the occasion and called upon the citizens to value government properties. Noting that Pfütsero houses around 30 government offices, including five central offices, he urged the public to dedicate at least one day a year to clean these facilities.

Former Minister Neiba Kronu, in his speech, reminisced about the old rest house built in 1967 and commended the efforts that led to the construction of the new facility.

The programme was chaired by Er Aloto Shohe, EAC while welcome address was delivered by Mhalo Humtsoe, ADC Pfutsero. Earlier, dedicatory prayer was pronounced by Rev. Dr. Chekrovei Cho-o, executive secretary Chakhesang Baptist Church Council while vote of thanks was proposed by Ketsinle Tep, EAC.

GA Rest House Pfutsero
Presenting technical report, Er Sungtiba Amer, Assistant Chief Engineer CAWD said that the construction of GA Rest House including construction of kitchen- cum-chowkidar quarter and gate at Pfutsero ADC HQ was started in 2015 and completed in 2022 at the project cost of Rs 3,50,00,000.

The GA Rest House building (G+2) storied structure with a total plinth area of 5458 sq.ft features 4 Delux Rooms and 1 common room on ground floor, 3 suite rooms and one common room on first floor and conference hall and toilet on second floor.

The Kitchen cum chowkidar building (G+2) storied RCC structure with a total pint area of 3594 sq.ft featured kitchen with store room, dining hall, boys dormitory, guard room (2 nos) on ground floor and chowkidar quarter ( 2 bed room, 1 sitting room and kitchen) and girls dormitory on first floor.

He also informed that an additional works for compound flooring, security fencing, breezeway between main rest house building and kitchen and furniture and furnishings involved Rs. 1, 50, 00, 000.

He saluted contractor Khrokedu Kronu of M/S Oriental Agency for the job well done. Er Amer said that this GA House is one of the only majestic rest house ever constructed for ADC Headquarters in the entire state with all the facilities, which have superceeded many of the Rest Houses constructed in the District Headquarters in Nagaland.
