Dimapur, May 25 (MExN): The XXV General Committee of the Student Christian Movement of India will be held at Ao Jubilee Memorial Hall, Lirie Kohima, Nagaland from June 1 to 4. The theme of the General Committee is “Blessed are those in the Margins, for they will inherit the Earth: Challenges for the Student Communities”.
In this regard it is our pleasure to invite all the well wishers, College Principals, NGOs, student leaders, various organizations, SCMI units and church leaders for the Public Reception which will be held on 2nd June, 2011 from 2:30 p.m. onwards at Baptist Mission Church, Kohima. Dr. S.C. Jamir, Former Chief Minister of Nagaland, has kindly consented to be the chief guest and Dr. Ranjan Solomon, consultant, World Council of Churches will deliver the Ralla Ram Memorial Lecture during this public reception. Bishop Dr. Geeverghese Mor Coorilos, the Chairperson of SCM India and the Moderator of the Council for World Mission & Evangelism of the WCC and Dr. A.J. Anandan, Retd. IPS, treasurer of SCM India & Former DGP of Karnataka will preside and grace the occasion. We look forward to your presence and participation at this Public Reception, informed a pres note.
It also stated that the Student Christian Movement of India (SCMI) is one the oldest ecumenical University students organisation, working towards contemporising Christian faith in the context of the struggles of people and creation since 1912. Marching towards a centenary of life, ministry and witness, SCMI has been a fellowship of students, teachers and senior friends who work together in translating Christian faith into action and partaking in widening and deepening of God’s reign here on earth. The Student Christian Movement of India is affiliated to the World Student Christian Federation (WSCF), and has been pioneering in promoting values of justice, peace & ecumenism over the years.
