Genesis Old Riphyim and Waxen CC booked their places in the semi-finals of the ongoing 30th Winter Cricket Challenge after winning their respective quarter-final matches on Monday.
In the third quarter-final, Genesis Old Riphyim won the toss and elected to bat first, posting a competitive total of 173 runs for the loss of six wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Nzanthung Mozhui contributed 35 runs, while Renjamo Mozhui top-scored with 47. Mhachamo chipped in with 21 runs.
In reply, WDCA were bundled out for 146 runs in 19.5 overs, falling short by 27 runs. Manta was the lone standout with 60 runs, while Amrit scored 21 and Wojanthung Ngullie added 25. Renjamo Mozhui of Genesis Old Riphyim was adjudged Man of the Match for his all-round performance.
In the second quarter-final, Hill Strikers, after opting to bat first, were restricted to 143 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs. Samir Ali anchored the innings with a well-made 72, while Sunli Sharma scored 18.
Waxen CC chased down the target comfortably in 16.4 overs, losing four wickets. Shiva played a decisive knock of 45 runs, supported by Renben (33) and Alok Sharma (20). Shiva was named Man of the Match for his match-winning innings.
The semi-final matches will be played on January 3, 2026. The first semi-final will see Lancer CC take on Genesis Old Riphyim, while Dashing Dudes (Wokha Village) will face Waxen CC in the second semi-final.
