GENSU celebrates silver jubilee

Dimapur, November 6 (MExN): Guwahati Eastern Nagaland Students' Union (GENSU) celebrated the completion of 25 years on November 4 at the PWD Convention and Training Centre, Guwahati under the theme ‘Roots and Wings.’

According to a press release received here on Sunday, the ceremony was inaugurated by Dr Tinojongshi Chang, Joint Secretary, Nagaland Department of Rural Development, as chief guest. Pastor Peter Thong, Naga Christian Fellowship, Guwahati dedicated the souvenir commemorating the jubilee, while Kyupise Sangtam, President,  Nagaland Solar Contractors Union was the special invitee of the occasion. The chief guest, in his speech, mentioned the brief history of GENSU and concluded with his best wishes for the future endeavors.  

Short speeches were also delivered by Ilika Zhimomi, DRC, Nagaland House, Guwahati; Laji Luyanba, Jubilee Planning Committee Convenor; Chingmak Chang, President, ENSF, and N Manpang Konyak, Rounding Member.

The release stated that the event was organised by GENSU under the guidance and leadership of its President Bangli M Phom along with jubilee planning committee Laji Luyanba, Convenor and N Langphong Konyak, Secretary. 

Other highlights included a cultural show presented by the 7 tribes of Eastern Nagaland and other special performances.
