Geology and Mining dept constructs Deep tube well at Viphoma Village

Kohima, April 15 (MExN): Department of Geology and Mining constructed a deep tube well at Viphoma Village under the scheme ‘Deep Tube Exploratory’ programmes. The village is located at 1300 meters above sea level.  

It was inaugurated by Director Geology and Mining, Wenthang Rengma on April 12. Rengma mentioned about the importance and scarcity of water in most township/villages located at hilltops and how ground water is becoming more and more important. “Ground water plays an important role in socio, economic development,” he stated.  

He mentioned that amongst the hilly regions of the country, Nagaland has been successful in ground water exploration and development carried out by the department of geology and mining. He also informed that the well produce 3000 litres per hour. He said, “To produce 3000 litres per hour is very rare. However, we found it here and it is good news for the village.”  

He also stated that one who operates should follow the guild line for lasting uses. Rengma also urged the villagers that if problem arises they can directly contact the department. “I hope that it will fulfill the desire of the village and last long and contribute for the welfare of the community,” he added.  

A press release stated that invocation was said by Pastor Viphoma Baptist Church Thepfuvi-U Peya. Welcome address was delivered by chairman VCC, N Vithe. Technical report was given by geologist department of geology and mining Khikiya Kath. Vite of thanks was delivered by Chatuo Mere. Benediction prayer was done by Pastor Crcviphoma Village Pitoshe. The programme was shared by Secretary VVC, Vizielhou Miachieo.  

The department has covered almost every district and next month the same will be inaugurating at Tseminyu.
