Geology and Mining Director, Addl Director retire

Dimapur, September 2 (DIPR): The Directorate of Geology and Mining Employees Association organised a farewell programme for the department’s Director, SK Kenye and Additional Director, E. Kikon at DGM conference hall, Dimapur on August 31.  

Secretary, Geology and Mining, Imjung M Panger, IAS acknowledged that during the leadership of the two officers, the Department progressed much and also framed many important rules. He said that it is up to the Department to work on the basis of their contribution and improvise on it. The Secretary also congratulated the incoming Director, Wanthang and urged him and his team to lead the Department to greater heights.  

He also released books titled ‘Time present and time past: memories of Naga geologist’ and ‘Judicious and need based development of Ground Water with special reference to hilly terrain of Nagaland’ written by the retiring officers SK Kenye and E. Kikon respectively.  

Kenye in his speech thanked the officers and staff for their co-operation. No amount of money could buy such a support, he said. Meanwhile, E. Kikon in his speech said that he had enjoyed working in such a cohesive and congenial atmosphere and felt that he has given the best of his times and is retiring satisfied and content.  

Speaking on behalf of the Department, incoming Director, Wanthang described Kenye as a man of vision who brought many changes into the department. Wanthang said that though two great personalities are retiring, the good works will remain in the department. 

OSD, Department of Geology & Mining, OK Temjen, Managing Director, NSMDC, Er. T. Longri Ao, President, Nagaland Geoscientist Association, S. Manen also spoke during the programme.
