Dimapur, April 30 (MExN): In pursuance of the directive from Ministry of Road Transport & Highways and Transport Commissioner, the Government High School, Burma Camp observed National Road Safety Week from April 23 to April 30.
According to a press release from Omega G Naga, graduate teacher, GHS Burma Camp, students were taken out of the school campus and taught various safety guidelines during the long week observation.
Various programmes related to road safety were organised to enlighten the students on road safety, driving rules and cautions. Variety of educational banners, safety posters, safety films, pocket guides and leaflets related to road safety were also distributed to the on road travelers and students as well.
Further, students were taught other rules such as: Knowing traffic signals, guidelines on how to cross the road, using of sidewalks, avoiding rushing while crossing, and studying safe in moving vehicle.
Students were also made aware on how to conduct pre journey inspection, importance of wearing seat belt/helmet, maintaining speed limit, ill effects of driving under the influence of alcohol/other addiction substances etc.
On the last day, the school also organised a painting competition on the topic 'Road Safety' for the students of class 10.
