Naga United, October 19 (MExN): The Government High School, Naga United Village celebrated golden jubilee with the theme ‘honouring our past, envisioning our future,’ with Dr Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, Advisor for School Education & SCERT, Government of Nagaland, as the special guest on October 19.
Addressing the function, Dr Yhome emphasised that in tandem with global changes, the Nagas are currently excelling in various fields, competing both nationally and internationally, and achieving significant milestones, the Golden Jubilee Planning Board stated in a press release. He expressed hope that in the next fifty years, the school will produce outstanding individuals who will contribute to the progress of the people and the state.
The Advisor acknowledged the challenges faced by the Education department in a state like Nagaland, particularly in managing over four hundred thousand students across private and government institutions. He stressed the critical role of educators in nurturing these students, who represent the future of the state.
Dr Yhome also highlighted the government’s commitment to expanding and upgrading schools in the coming years. Addressing the village council memorandum requesting the school’s upgradation to a Higher Secondary level, he assured that the government would review the matter positively, provided the school meets the required criteria.
Additionally, Dr Yhome expressed empathy for the teachers, recognizing their dedicated efforts despite being often undervalued.
The programme was chaired by Lanusenla Imsong and Kuvezo Kezo. Rev Kilang Jamir, Director of Youth Harvest Ministry said the invocation; welcome address was delivered by Pekingto Y Jimo, Convenor of the Golden Jubilee Planning Board; Rev Dr P Dozo, President of UCTM, bestowed Jubilee blessings and extended his blessings to the staff of GHS Naga United Village.
The event featured a hymn by Jubilee Choir, Chakhesang folk dance by Dzuve Cultural Troupe, choreography by the school’s Tiny Tots, and special number by Jano Nyekha, Administrator, School of Music, Dimapur.
R Rosemary Kent, Assistant Headmistress of GHS Naga United Village said the vote of thanks, and Khegholi Zhimo, Women Pastor of Sumi Baptist Church, Naga United Village concluded with benediction.
Earlier, the special guest unveiled the jubilee monolith and the souvenir.
