GHS Project clarifies on admission fees

Dimapur, November 22 (MExN): The Headmaster and faculty of GHS Project, Zunheboto has said that “there is no standing order from the Government or the Department not to charge school fees from students” studying in government schools. In a clarification issued by the school authorities on YouthNet and ZRSU’s RTI social audit report carried by the local media, the school stated that “any individual, organisation or association should first go into the details before making conclusions which may hamper the relationship between the students, teachers, the department and the public.”
Headmaster GHS Project, Kakugha S Rotokha pointed out that the school was recently upgraded from GMS to GHS under RMSA. However, the yearly school grant and maintenance of a meager sum of Rs.12, 000 per academic session for GMS was not sufficient and further allocation of funds is expected for the preceding academic session.
He further pointed out that “board examination fees” are collected during the time of admission which is submitted the SCERT and NBSE. He added that “computers provided by the SSA and SCERT and science lab materials provided by the DNA science club are collected from outstation; and expenditure for the maintenance of computers and science labs are incurred by the school.” He stated that these are some of the expenses solely incurred by the school without monthly tuition fees being charged by students other than the admission fees charged in every academic session by the school.
