GHSS Chümoukedima gets new building under RMSA

Advisor School Education, Government of Nagaland K Tokugha Sukhalu stated that the priority for infrastructural development will be considered based on the school’s performance and community involvement. He was speaking at the inaugural function of the new school building constructed under the RMSA at the Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Chümoukedima on December 13.

 

Thejavizo Nakhro, EAC Chümoukedima while presenting the report on behalf of SMC lamented that the absence of sociology since December last when its former teacher was promoted and transferred. It is very unfortunate and notes that sociology was one subject the school excelled with many students scoring star marks. The EAC also reported that GHSS Chümoukedima has made consistent progress over the years and with better resources can make the education proud.

 

The District Education Officer (DEO) Dimapur R Amongla Jamir urged the faculty and staffs to rededicate themselves towards moulding the young minds. She also stressed on the need for better coordination and consultation between faculty, parents and public.

 

The Joint Mission Director, RMSA Kevi Rio addressing the gathering shared his experience and stated that schools with public involvement are doing very well and vice versa. He urged the staffs and community to work together for the benefit of the students. This view was also reiterated by Advisor Sukhalu.

 

The Chairman of Chümoukedima village council Razouvotuo Chatsu spoke on the history of the school built on the land donated by the Chümoukedima village and constructed by the ONGC in the early 1980s. The school despite its infrastructural limitations has been doing very well and catering to the need of the surrounding areas. Razouvotuo Chatsu also requested that the introduction of science stream has been a long felt need in the area and requested the Advisor and other officials of the department to consider the possibility.

 

Advisor Sukhalu in his speech stated the department will ensure the school gets a sociology teacher before the exam. The Advisor spoke on the need to change the mindset and attitude and stated that “political parties and politicians can bring the change; it has to be a collective effort.” He urged the gathering to look beyond and leave a legacy. “We have been serving ourselves, it’s time we need to work sincerely and ensure that services and welfare reach everyone,” he added.

 

To the teachers present, the Advisor said “Let your students see hope in you.” The Advisor also pointed that one of the biggest malady for the education department is proxy teachers. He urged the community to be vigilant and ensure the transparency and efficiency of the school management.

 

Karen Sema, Principal of the school in her welcome remark stated that the addition of the new building is a defining moment and the school has been praying for this for a very long time. She also informed that a new subject “Music” will introduced in the school from the next academic session.
The new school building was dedicated by Pastor Tepu Khieya of Dominion Life Nagaland and the benediction song by the school choir.
