DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 14 (MExN): The annual games and sports meet 2011 of the Government Higher Secondary School Dimapur commenced on September 14 at the school ground. The school principal R. Amongla Jamir who was also the chief guest of the function unfurled the school flag. The principal in her speech encouraged the students to be disciplined in and off the field and to discover their God given talent. She said that sports should not be taken as a part time activity but rather as an avenue in which one can create successful careers. Successful sportspersons not only bring laurels for themselves but to the society at large.
The function was marked by march-past from four houses and NCC air wing of the school. The NCC air wing also displayed their special drill during the function. Other highlights of the function were songs and dance from the students.
Athletics marked the first day of the sports meet. The three say sports meet will culminate on September 16.
