GHSS Jotsoma celebrates golden jubilee

Nagaland’s School Education Advisor KT Sukhalu today expressed satisfaction over the academic performance of the Government Higher Secondary School, Jotsoma. This school produced 100% pass percentage eight times in HSLC examinations. Gracing the golden jubilee celebration of the school, Sukhalu lauded the community participation towards the successful journey of the school.  

“Jotsoma has shown the way. When community involves, there is definitely progress,” Sukhalu said. He marinated that the concept of community participation help in overall growth of the school, infrastructure etc.  

He assured to intervene into the need of the classroom extension and others requirement of the school.  

With education we can have a better society, he said adding that with good education we can have proper development. “With good education, we are not second to anyone in the world,” he maintained.  

Releasing the souvenir, MLA Keneizhakho Nakhro maintained that GHSS Jotsoma is one of the best performing government schools in the state.  

School Education Principal Secretary Menukhol John thanked the Jotsoma community for their generous support towards the growth of school over the years. He said that even for this grand golden jubilee celebration function, the contribution that came forward from the youth, women, village council and each and every individual was wonderful. He maintained that in education sector, government alone, teachers alone and staff alone cannot carry the cross on their own. “We need the support of the community, parents, elders and everyone to carry our education forward,” he said.  

School Education Director Wonthungo Tsopoe said “This school has been performing remarkable by leaps and bounds.” This school has been a school where community is really involved and we are very proud to see that even church leaders are involved in the development of the school, he added.  

D. Peseyie, the first headmaster of the school shared about the history of the school and the initial difficulties it went through in establishing the school.  

Earlier, Azinu Savi Swuro, principal GHSS, Jotsoma delivered welcome address while vote of thanks was proposed by GHSS Jotsoma headmaster Mezhü-u Hozoyeh.  

Mention may be made that, Late Kiyanilie Peseyie, former speaker Nagaland Legislative Assembly is among the many luminaries who received early education from this school.
