KDCA officials along with the players during the second inter-school cricket tournament
Kiphire, May 1 (MExN): The second inter-school cricket tournament concluded at Public Ground in Kiphire on May 1, showcasing enthusiasm, discipline and young sporting talent.
The programme began with an exhibition match between officials of the Kiphire District Cricket Association and its Under-19 team, with the officials securing a win.
In the final, Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Kiphire, posted a total of 163 runs before being all out. Cambridge High School, despite a determined effort, managed 100 runs for the loss of nine wickets, handing GHSS the championship title while Cambridge finished runner-up.
The tournament was organised by the Kiphire District Cricket Association under the aegis of the Nagaland Cricket Association to identify and nurture young cricketing talent in the district.
Certificates were presented to the winners by official umpire Longtili C Sangtam.
Joint secretary of the association, Rothrongse Sangtam, expressed gratitude to all stakeholders for their support and encouraged schools and students to actively participate in such events.
He said the association would continue organising similar tournaments to help players develop and represent the district at higher levels, while congratulating the winners and appreciating the efforts of all participants.
He added that the tournament served as a valuable platform for learning and development.
