Gilgal FC wins Mongsen Ait Marok Football Trophy

MOKOKCHUNG, DECEMBER 20 (MExN): Gilgal FC emerged champion of the Mongsen Ait Marok Football Trophy organized by the Mongsen Ait Club after trouncing Yimsen Youth Club-A (YYCA) at the finals played here at Longjang, Mokokchung on December 20. Gilgal FC scored a 3-nil victory to clinch the title. 

Gilgal started off the final match of the tournament in an all-out attack, with center forward Sentinungsang breaching the YYCA defensive line and scoring 3 consecutive goals in the 2nd 12th and 20th minutes of the first half.  In the second half, Yimsen Youth Club-A valiant efforts were denied by the Gilgal keeper, resulting in their 3-0 defeat. 

The tournament’s individual prizes were awarded to Longkhoi (LYA), Ayenmongba (Gilgal), Ngou (LYA), and Homuka (Gilgal) for the highest goal scorer, player of the tournament, best defender and best keeper, respectively. An additional award went to Impangtsung (YYC-B) for the most promising player.  

Mokokchung District Village Development Board Association president, Chutensangba, who was the special guest at the closing ceremony, called upon the players to push their boundaries in order to succeed. He also pointed out that the star entertainers of different fields are valued for their dedication, which should be envied and sought after. He added that, winning is not final and defeat is another chance to win. 

The president also congratulated the club -Mongsen Ait Club- for successfully hosting the tournament and providing a platform for the young player.  MAC sports secretary, Bendangyanger, thanked the pioneers of the club for planting the seed of the club and having a vision further than what was, in his vote of thanks.
