DIMAPUR, March 19 (MExN): The Withee International Mission from Seoul, South Korea and the Nagaland Development Outreach (NDO) is all set to implement a ginger plantation project. The topography of Nagaland is suitable for such a kind of plantation and the mission team is set to help upgrade Naga economic status through agricultural plantation projects along with spiritual feedings. Nagaland can produce ginger in large quantity which can be exported to other nations and which can contribute directly or indirectly to the economic development of the Nagas, said Rev Moon, one of the team members of the Korean delegation who are presently on a few days visit to Nagaland.
“We all as an individual also feels very much as one of the Nagas and I have love and concern for the people of Nagaland” said Rev Moon when asked why the mission is interested in implementing such kind of economic projects in Nagaland.
He further added that along with the economic development scheme, the mission is expected to hold a conference “Mission Naga 2007” later next year here at Dimapur but he also added that the date of holding the conference is yet to be finalized. The main focus will be on the youths, to encourage and give them spiritual feeding and prepare them spiritually to face the future, he articulated.
An economically immature state can lead to a disappointment in spiritual life and this is why the mission focuses on both fields-economic and spiritual development, the South Korean missionary said.
The plantation of the ginger plants is expected to be done soon by the church members under Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC).
Earlier, during an informal discussion hour held at the residence of the chairman, NDO, Maria presented Korean songs of praise while a choreographed sequence was witnessed from another visitor named You. The local duet Aren and Moa of Abiogenisis presented a special indigenous number.
The visiting South Korean team comprises of Rev. Moon, Maria, You, Rev. Daniel, Song, Mah, and Ree.
