Girl child day observed in Mon

Students & teachers of Sacred Heart School, Mon and members of District Administration & MSK Mon after the Girl Child Day programme held on August 11.

Mon, August 11 (MExN): Girl child day for the month of August was observed at Sacred Heart School, Mon Town on August 11.

The programme was organized by the District Administration in collaboration with MSK Mon under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) scheme.

Ponglem Konyak, winner of multiple bravery awards was the resource person, a press release stated. She valiantly fought off some miscreants back in 1995 for which she was awarded the Bravery Award by the Governor of Nagaland on January 26, 1998, it added.

The programme was chaired by Ngepshom Konyak, Women Welfare Officer, Mahila Shakti Kendra (MSK)/District Level Centre for Women (DLCW), Mon.

Olem, District coordinator, MSK spoke on the main aims and objectives of the MSK. Three boys and three girls from Sacred Heart School who voluntarily spoke on the theme ‘Girl Child Day’ were given prizes.
