IMPHAL, August 10 (NNN):  A 7-year-old girl was injured in an explosion near a BSF sentry post located at Maphou Barrage under Lamlai Police Station of Imphal East around 9am on Wednesday, a police source said.   The girl has been undergoing treatment at Christian Hospital, Dewlahland. Sources suspected the explosion was triggered by militants to target the BSF post.

On August 8, two personnel belonging to the border guarding force were injured after suspected militants triggered a low intensity IED along NH-2 Imphal-Dimapur road close to Kangpokpi town under Senapati district.   Meanwhile, suspected militants ambushed a convoy of Assam Rifles in Canchipur area of Imphal West just afternoon, but it failed to inflict any casualties on the personnel. Police sources said the incident occurred around 12:30pm. No one was injured in the explosion.   The Improvised Explosive Device (IED) went off as the convoy of four vehicles of the Assam Rifles passed through the spot. The bomb was planted on the roadside to target the Assam Rifles convoy, sources said.   Security forces also recovered a powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in a passenger bus along the NH-2 in Tengdongyan area under Sekmai Police Station on August 8.   On August 6, security forces detected a powerful IED close to ‘M Sector’ (Army office) in the heart of Manipur capital complex, Imphal averting a major tragedy.   The IED was recovered barely 24 hours after a blast triggered by unidentified persons injured a 2-year-old girl and a Head Constable of CRPF near the state Museum complex.   For the past several years, militant organisations in the state have been boycotting the Independence Day celebrations by calling state wide general strike.
